Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized on November 12, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana by seven educators: Mary Lou Allison Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Vivian White Marbury, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, Hattie Mae Dulin Redford, Bessie M. Downey Martin and Cubena McClure. The group became an incorporated national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929, when a charter was granted to Alpha chapter at Butler University.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is a leading international service organization, has met the challenges of the day and continues to grow through Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.

​

​With over 500 chapters & 85,000+ members in the United States, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Germany and Korea. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is committed to improve the quality of life for its members and the society it serves.

Iota Psi Sigma Alumnae Chapter-Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Foundation

Iota Psi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered on August 27, 2005 by Sorors LaShanna Brown, Kasie Kucharski, Taunya Meeks-Griffin, Maya Smith, Nakiiya Williams & Dr. Aronica Williams. This eclectic pool of women with an array of talents set community service goals to better serve Wisconsin and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

In the past years, Iota Psi Sigma has developed civic, social, educational and economic programs for the community with an emphasis on the positive development of youth. Service to youth is a hallmark of the chapter's activities, with training and mentorship  as a primary goal.

​

Iota Psi Sigma continues to strive to be a beacon light for the community of Brown Deer and aims to fulfill the motto of Sigma "Greater Service, Greater Progress."

Mission Statement

Our mission is to enhance the community by inspiring new horizons, promoting growth and development of the community. Sisterhood, community advocacy, and professional, social, and educational development are the hallmarks of our chapter. We will provide leadership, resources, and innovative and original thought to achieve our goals. Our ultimate goal is to present Sigma as a diverse and dynamic group of women dedicated to their families, their communities, and their civic and social responsibilities.
